Technical Facilities

Certain supporting technical facilities that also function under FORADS are given below:

Media Support Wing

Modern technology has considerably enriched and improved the quality of instruction at the College. The facilities include sophisticated language laboratories, a modern close circuit TV network known as Educational Television (ETV) and an elaborate Internet setup. These training facilities have been organized under the Media Support Wing and their utilization and integration in the curriculum make the instructions effective, interesting and innovative. Student officers get adequate opportunities to use these facilities. The Media Support Wing can serve the close circuit TV and computer terminals in all the syndicate rooms simultaneously, and the facilities can be used for group discussions, lectures, conferences, individual and group research presentations and war games.

Computer Support Wing

The College had embarked upon an ambitious Computerization Plan that encompasses the provisioning of multifaceted facilities directed towards enhancing academic excellence in a futuristic environment. It provides to the community a wide variety of databases, on-line research facilities, mailing, information and curriculum support/assessment modules. Every student has the facility of his own laptop computer for connection to the College Intranet and Internet. Most of his routine work is automated by the use of this laptop connected with the Intranet

Main Library

The Main Library houses books concerned with serious reading. A large number of international newspapers and magazines on professional and general subjects are also available. It also boasts of a well-equipped Audio Visual Section and extensive Internet facilities to assist the students in their research pursuits. The Fiction Library offers a wide selection of weekly and monthly magazines in addition to a large variety of books for families of the officers.

A new Library Management System has been introduced with a view to provide an online search facility for library resources. A user now can browse through library catalogue, read the articles, make reservation for books and suggest intake of library contents.

At present the library holds 36,500 books on various disciplines including 1550 rare books. The books are arranged and classified in accordance with Dewey Decimal classification system. Besides these books, approximately 25000 periodicals (including 11000 professional and 14000 non-professional) are available in the periodical section.

E-library has also been established with a view to provide free access to a number of classic books. It allows the user to store links to their favourite books  in a convenient place. To facilitate the readers a number of selected books have also been scanned and put on Local Area Network.

Language Laboratories

The College has two modern language laboratories, which are used to impart instructions in foreign languages to our student officers. Essentially this facility is used for teaching Arabic and English to Pakistani officers. An equally important function of this facility is to impart a functional knowledge of Urdu to the Allied Officers and their families.
